World Cup winner to receive $42 million in prize money
The World Cup winners will earn $42 million for their soccer federation.

The team that lost Sunday’s final between France and Argentina will receive $30 million from FIFA’s $440 million prize fund.
When France won the World Cup in 2018, the country’s soccer federation received $38 million from FIFA’s $400 million prize fund.
Not all of the money goes to the players, but they are expected to get a good chunk. According to French sports daily L’Equipe, French players like Kylian Mbappé will receive 554,000 euros ($586,000) in bonuses for their football association after they win the final.
Each country’s soccer federation will receive at least $9 million in prize money for participating in this year’s World Cup, plus another $1.5 million in tournament preparation costs.
The third-place Croatian team received a prize of 27 million US dollars. Morocco is fourth and will be paid $25 million.
Fifa’s total revenue over the past four years was $7.5 billion, the bulk of which came from broadcast and sponsorship deals, as well as ticket and hospitality sales.
